Cellular Phone Acquisition, Use and
Reimbursement Policy

Purpose: As required by Administrative Practice Letter (APL) No. 51, this policy establishes procedures for the procurement, use, and reimbursement for occasional, incidental or emergency personal use of University cell phones as well as reimbursement for use of personal cell phones.  Because this policy is governed by APL No. 51, cellular phone users should also become familiar with the APL itself.

A few notes about BlackBerry Devices if user wants
to synchronize with USM's GroupWise

  • The Blackberry device needs to be configured for Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) not Blackberry Internet Service (BIS)
     
  • USM license and setup charge for a Blackberry Device is an initial fee of $100 plus a $24 maintenance charge assessed in July.
     
  • USM will not bill an individual for these charges.
     
  • Device/Service must be USM department owned, funded and authorized.
