Clifford School Partnership

The Clifford School Partnership is a partnership that has been going strong since the Spring of 2004! This partnership offers students a wonderful opportunity to interact with elementary school children and their teachers and parents! The partnership was established because of its proximity to the University community and an expressed wish by the school to have nursing students working with the children.

Nursing students work closely with the school in assessing and identifying areas of need and potential involvement. Nursing students work in the classrooms teaching health care related topics and working with children in the classroom who might need special attention. Every nursing student also mentors a Clifford student (Nathan Clifford requires that all students complete a background check through Big Brother Bis Sisters. There is no charge to the nursing students for this background check). Mentors spend one on one time with their mentees weekly. We also work with the gym teacher, occupational and speech therapist and of course the school nurse! Every April, the school nurse organizes a Health Fair for all of Nathan Clifford and the nursing students are instrumental in helping with this Fair. New projects and activities are always being explored and offered.
