Faculty meets with Associate Dean regarding interest, alignment with college for research priorities. |

Review resource commitment and availability to support proposal (staffing) or research project needs upon funding (space, teaching support) with department chair(s); meet with S. Taylor to discuss staffing needs. |

| 3. |
Notify Office of Sponsored Programs of intent to develop a proposal for grant funding and date for submission. Obtain OSP Blue Form (see www.usm.maine.edu/~osp). |

| 4. |
Obtain copies of all necessary grant forms and develop a timeline for completion of proposal. Determine staffing needs for proposal preparation in concert with Associate Dean of Research. |
Six (6) weeks prior to deadline |
| 5. |
Develop proposal with consultation from Associate Dean and/or other consultants as appropriate. Review preliminary budge with Associate Dean. |

Meet with OSP for Budget preparation (Larry Waxler). |
|
| 7. |
Submit preliminary proposal to Associate Dean of Research for review. |
Two (2) weeks prior to deadline |
| 8. |
Final changes should be incorporated and appropriate signatures obtained as well as copies prepared. |
One (1) week prior to deadline |
| 9. |
Submit final version of Blue Form to OSP. Copy form to Associate Dean of Research and Department Chair. |

| 10. |
Submit grant proposal to funding agency. |
At least on day prior to deadline |
| 11. |
Submit copies to Associate Dean of Research to be placed in permanent records. |

| 12. |
Prepare IRB Study Review Forms for Human Subject approval. www.usm.maine.edu/IRB (if applicable). |

Follow-up on proposal and provide Associate Dean's Office with copies of correspondence for permanent records. |

If awarded, IRB approval must be secured before implementation. www.usm.maine.edu/IRB |

Notify Associate Dean, Chair and S. Taylor of award or results of grant review |
|
| 16. |
If awarded, meet with Department Chair Associate Dean of Research and S. Taylor to discuss space/resources. |
