Robert Klotz is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Southern Maine.  His book on Internet politics has been reviewed as a "must read for anyone who hopes to understand the role of the Internet." His writing on politics has also appeared in edited books, including Communication in U.S. Elections (2001) and Mosh the Polls (2008), and in peer-reviewed journals such as Political Communication, Social Science Computer Review, Presidential Studies Quarterly, PS: Political Science & Politics and The Social Science Journal.  His research has been profiled in The Chronicle of Higher Education.  He joined USM in 2001.  
He has taught courses on all major American political institutions (legislative, executive, judicial, media, political parties and interest groups). Working on the St. Louis school desegregation case for three years, his teaching draws on firsthand experience with a variety of levels of government (federal, state, and local) and face-to-face interaction with legislative, executive, judicial, interest group and media officials. He completed a Ph.D. in political science from Washington University in St. Louis (1998) with the defense of his dissertation "Surfing through the Eyes of Aristotle: Political Advocacy on the World Wide Web." Previously, he had edited Preludes literary magazine and published a humorous short story in College Times featuring winners of the "Young at Art Contest for Emerging Talent."
