George Calvert, Classical Double Bass
A graduate of Indiana University School of Music
with distinction in 1983, George Calvert was a student of Stuart
Sankey and later of Edwin Barker, Principal Bass of the Boston Symphony
Orchestra. He is currently Assistant Principal Bass of the Portland
Symphony Orchestra and a substitute musician with the Boston Symphony
Orchestra, Boston Pops and Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestras, and Boston
Ballet Orchestra. This summer Mr. Calvert will be teaching double bass
at the Southern Maine String Academy held August 6-11, 2000 on the Gorham
campus of the University of Southern Maine.
