Terrorism and the American Public

POS 399 Final

Due Monday May 12th at 9:00 a.m. in Political Science Department

The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center demonstrated that we are not completely safe from foreign attacks on our home soil. For decades, the United States has focused its military and intelligence capabilities on enemies beyond its own borders. But, it has become incredibly clear that our enemies have the ability and the determination to reach through our defenses and strike at critical assets here at home.

As terrorist analyst for the National Security Council, you must write a report discussing the nature of the terrorist threat to the United States (including future trends such as weapons of mass destruction) and the various options available to the White House in their war against terrorism. Be sure to be inclusive of all available tools that can be used in the US government's anti- and counter terrorist campaign. In your report, also discuss the pros and cons of each tool and your recommendation for future US action.

Please refer to readings and class notes as much as possible. Remember that rules of grammar and citation apply to all written work. See POLITICAL SCIENCE STYLE GUIDE FOR WRITING PAPERS

P.S. I was locked out of the University's Computer System due to an expired password. Thus, I was not able to upload on Friday as I had promised. So, you have until next Monday (May 12th) to turn in your paper to my office mailbox (see above).
