Terrorism and the American Public

Introduction

This course explores the modern phenomenon of terrorism. It defines terrorism, considers terrorists' motivations, reviews the new dangers associated with terrorist access to weapons of mass destruction, considers policy proposals that might be taken to reduce the likelihood of terrorism and investigates the trade-off between liberty and security.

Course Objectives and Student Responsibilities

1. To introduce the student to the study of terrorism. The primary texts for this class along with class lectures will be the basis for this introduction. Students are required to complete the reading assignments prior to the scheduled class period and participate in class discussion.
