The Eclipse

Pomracenje

Mirjana Stefanovic, Belgrade Circle/Center for Anti-War Action, 1996, 126 pp.

The value of this book of poetry rests with the conceptual procedure the poet chose. Ms. Stefanovic confronts two voices: poems from the war years 1991-1994 and poems from the time of prosperous peace of the 1970s. This confrontation sufficed to produce a poetic glow including both the book and the poet among the significant protagonists of the latest poetic events in Serbia. In the recent years the author had the privilege, very rare today, to observe the emotional involvement of both those who read poetry and those who read very seldom.
