Colby Sawyer Cruises Past Southern Maine 8-1
NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby Sawyer College Chargers men’s tennis team won all six singles points to cruise to an 8-1 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon at the Kelsey Tennis Courts in New London, N.H. With the win the Chargers improve to 1-1. Playing in its first match of the fall season, Southern Maine falls to 0-1. Southern Maine freshman Dan Golden and sophomore Aaron McNeil (Dover- Foxcroft, Maine/Foxcroft Academy) earned the Huskies only point of the match defeating Charger duo of sophomore Chris Lavoie (Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) and freshman Reeve Fidler (Groton, Mass./Groton-Dunstable Regional) 9-7 in second doubles. Colby-Sawyer returns to action in the spring against Roger Williams University on Saturday, March 20 (tba). Southern Maine faces Colby College on Monday (3:00 p.m.). At New London, N.H.
