    Homework:

Media literacy is an informed, critical understanding of the mass media. It involves an examination of the techniques, technologies and institutions that  are involved in media production, the ability to critically analyze media messages, and a recognition of the roles that audiences play in making meaning from those messages (Shepherd). In reference to Barbie  products, why are they so popular?  What values are built into its advertizing? What messages should children take in visiting the www site?  Do you teach media literacy? If so, how? If not, why not?
