Gender Studies Student Organization
The Gender Studies Student Organization (GSSO) is a group for students who are interested in gender theory and feminism. Each semester we host panel discussions; in fall 2012, we co-sponsored (with the Sampson Center for Diversity) "Beyond Gay and Straight: a Panel Exploring Other Sexualities" and this semester we are hosting an event called "POP: a Panel on Porn" with Erica Rand (Bates College), Kelsea Dunham (Salacious Magazine), and Jules Purnell (Fruit Punch Productions) exploring the often tenuous relationship between feminism and porn. If these are activities you'd like to help organize, you should come hang out with us! Our meetings are at 7 p.m. on Monday nights at the Women and Community Center on the USM Portland campus.
