Wellness Makes A Difference: Fall for Walking 2007

Christen Stande is this year’s Grand Prize winner of the Fall for Walking program. We recently asked her a few questions about this year’s program.

Q. First off, incentives aside, what motivated you to sign up for Fall for Walking?

A. My main motivation was to see how much walking I actually do on a day to day basis, and to be able to set a goal and reach it -- for no one else but myself. I also bought my mom a pedometer, that was a great option to the program because I was able to involve my family.

Q. Did you find the program helpful? If so, in what ways?

A. Yes, I found the program helpful because it made me realize that I do more physical activity than I had originally thought. I was able to see how many steps I took just doing my normal routine and then adding a few extra to boost it up.

Q. Since the Fall for Walking program began, have you changed anything in your lifestyle to do more walking?

A. Oh yes. For one thing, my dog is very happy now because I take him for a few extra walks a week. I also now consciously decide to park further away from work, stores, etc, and take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Q. Do you plan to continue to monitor your physical activity using a pedometer, or use other way to keeping active?

A. Yes, I plan to keep monitoring my steps using the pedometer.

Q. Anything else you’d like to say to folks?

A. Yes. This program was awesome and I hope more like it are offered in the future.

Congratulations, and continued good health to Christen Stande, and all the Fall For Walking Participants!
