Home Base Program to Visit USM
Nick Dutter, Associate Director of Veterans Outreach for the Home Base Program, a partnership of the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital, will be visiting the USM Portland Campus to give an overview of the program. According to their website, the Home Base Program:
- Provides clinical care and support services to those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families who are affected by combat-related stress or trauamatic brain injury (TBI).
- Provides clinical and community education about the "invisible wounds of wars" and the challenges of military families.
- Conducts research to improve treatment and understanding of Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and TBI.
- Strives to be a model partnership of academic medicine and Major League Baseball in service to our military veterans and their families.
