University Counseling Services
Outreach & Programming
The staff of University Counseling Services welcome opportunities to engage with the student
population outside of the counselor role, and in turn are often sought out by members of USM
faculty, staff, and students for their expertise. Our staff members are active participants
in such traditional college events as National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, Welcome
Weekend, and National Depression Screening Day. Other initiatives include guest-speaking
engagements in the classroom, participation in panel discussions, and the development of
awareness programming for the student population.
The following is a list of topics
that may be the focus of workshops, presentations, and other programs by UCS staff members:
- Stress Management
- Conflict Resolution
- Relationship Violence
- Healthy Relationships
- Depression
- Women and Depression
- Sexual Assault Awareness
- Alcohol and the College Experience
- Designer Drugs
- Assertiveness
- TIPS training (Training for Intervention Procedures)
Other areas may be covered as well, based upon the needs of the USM community. Programs,
workshops, and other presentations can often be tailored to be more effective with a particular
target audience or venue. To inquire further, please contact University Counseling Services at
780-4050.
