Confidentiality
All information shared by you in individual, family, or couple's counseling,
including the fact that you have received such services, will be held in strict
confidence. Likewise, all participants of group counseling are asked to
keep information shared by group members confidential. No information will be
released to university officials, faculty, family members, or outside agencies
without your written permission. The rare exceptions to this rule of
confidentiality include:
- situations involving imminent danger of you
harming yourself or others;
- situations involving a child or incapacitated
adult who has been or is in serious danger
of being abused or neglected;
- the receipt of a valid court order or
subpoena which requires disclosure of
information.
Although information will not be released outside
of University Counseling Services without your
permission, interns may share relevant client
information with their supervisors, and professional
staff may confer with each other in order to improve
the quality of services to you.
Fees & Eligibility
Services are accessed by paying the $80 Student Health
Fee, which is automatically assessed during the fall
and spring semesters for students enrolled for six or
more credits. Students enrolled for fewer than six
credits and students enrolled in summer classes
may opt to pay the health fee, or pay per session.
Paying the Health Fee provides you access to 12
individual counseling sessions. Should additional
sessions be necessary, a fee will be assessed for
each session beyond the original 12 sessions.
Students experiencing financial hardship may
petition for a fee reduction for this per-session
charge.
Students will lose eligibility for ongoing services if
they withdraw from all classes in a given semester.
UCS staff will assist students who have withdrawn
from the university with outside referrals should
additional services be required. Eligibility for
summer counseling is limited to students either
enrolled in summer classes or pre-registered for the
fall semester.
