DIRIGO: Maine's Turn to Vomit in Microgravity

Welcome to our website! As we make more progress and get closer to our flight dates, there will be more exciting things to read and see. In the meantime, please enjoy the site!

To give you a quick preview, we are a team of undergraduate and graduate students that are designing an experiment with DNA damage in human lung epithelial cells (a specific type of lung cell; everyone has them) to conduct on NASA's "Weightless Wonder". The "Weightless Wonder" is a plane that simulates zero-gravity within the Earth's atmosphere. The nickname for the Weightless Wonder is the Vomit Comet; and for good reason. You may read about it on the 'Project Details' page. We will travel to Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas in mid-July to prepare for our experiment and our flight. Upon returning from Houston, we will collect and present our data, and hope for a second trip.
