We thank our friends and research partners in Barrow, Alaska. The samples provided by the hunters and workers there are extremely helpful to our efforts to understand effects of pollutants on the bowhead and North Atlantic right whales. It also helps us see what can be learned from bowhead cells that might have importance in curing human disease. We are pleased to be able to share our efforts and results with you as we obtain them. It is one way that we hope to be able to give back to, and support, your community there. These results are not ready for general distribution because they are still preliminary and in development. Thus it is important that they be kept private between the Wise Laboratory and the Barrow Community until the studies are complete. We are happy to discuss these data with you via e-mail and invite you to submit to us any questions you have via e-mail at: WiseLaboratory@usm.maine.edu.
We thank you again for your support.
We would also like to acknowledge the generous financial support from NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
