Minors in Tourism

• Minor in Nature Based Tourism, jointly offered by the Department of Recreation & Leisure Studies and the Department of Environmental Science. The minor combines coursework in environmental science and outdoor recreation to provide students with an introductory knowledge of ecotourism, outdoor recreation leadership, and nature interpretation.

• Minor in Tourism and Community Development, offered through the Geography-Anthropology program. The minor provides a practical and critical understanding of the role of tourism in local and regional economic development.

Certificate in Sustainable Tourism

The Department of Recreation & Leisure Studies offers a Certificate in Sustainable Tourism in conjunction with the International Ecotourism Society. The program offers a holistic understanding of ecotourism and sustainable tourism through multi-disciplinary education and experiential learning from industry-based opportunities.
