Miller Analogies Test (MAT) Registration Information

MILLER ANALOGIES TEST: CANCELLATION AND RETEST POLICIES

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY: If you must cancel, please contact the Office of Academic Assessment during office hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).  To receive a refund, you must complete an MAT Refund Form (obtainable at our office located at 253 Luther Bonney, Portland).  Refunds may take up to six (6) weeks to process.

  •  If you cancel fourteen (14) days or more before the test date, you will receive a refund of $55.
  •  If you cancel thirteen (13) to seven (7) days before the test date, you will receive a refund of $35.
  •  If you cancel six (6) days or less before the test date, you will not be eligible for a refund.

TRANSFER POLICY: If you must transfer your scheduled test date, please contact the Office of Acadeic Assessment during the office hours to arrange for your transfer test date.

  • You may transfer your MAT registration to your second choice without an additional charge (the date you listed on the registration form):  1) transfer to the second date already on your original registration form, and 2) arrange this transfer six (6) days or more before the originally scheduled test date.
  • You must change your test date to another test date that was not listed on your original registration form, you will be charged a $10 transfer registration fee.
  • If you do not reschedule your test date within a three-month period, your registration will become inactive and you must go through the registration process again.

CANCELLATION/WEATHER POLICY: If USM cancels classes due to weather conditions, the MAT's are automatically cancelled.  Please call the USM Storm Hotline at 1-800-800-4876 or (207)780-4800 to verify if testing will be held.  If your exam is cancelled, Academic Assessment will contact you to reschedule the MAT.

DEADLINE DATE: The Office of Academic Assessment must receive your registration form before the deadline date of your desired test date.  Any registration forms received after this date will be returned to you.  Space is limited, therefore, early registration is recommended.

ABSENTEES ON TEST DATE: If you are absent on your scheduled test date, you must contact the Office of Academic Assessment within one week after the test date in order to transfer your registration to your second choice without an additional charge.  After one week, your registration will become inactive.

RETEST POLICY: If you wish to retake the MAT, you must follow the registration process again.  You will receive a retest admission ticket in the mail with your score report from Psychological Corporation.  You're required to bring your retest admission ticket along with your USM admission ticket to your next scheduled test date.

Directions for Completing Registration Form (see attached form)

  1. Complete your name, social security number, mailing address, and phone number.  If your information is not complete or readable, your registration form will be returned to you.

  2. Choose the most desired test date based on the MAT scheduled test dates.  Also, choose a second date (from the MAT schedule).  The second date is referred to as the transfer date; you will be allowed to transfer your registration to the second date without additional cost.  Please read the cancellation/transfer policies if you decide to cancel your registration.

  3. Circle "yes" or "no" if you have taken the MAT on a previous date (prior to this registration).  If so, write the month and year last taken.
