Chuck teaches in the areas of Introduction to Social Work and methods courses. His formal education includes a BS from USM with concentration in Business and Psychology (1969), an MSW from the University of Michigan (1974). Chuck is currently working on a PhD in interdisciplinary studies at UMO with an emphasis on "The Appropriate Place of Spirituality in the Helping Professions" with an emphasis on social work and public service. Prior to coming to the School of Social Work this year, he was with the Muskie School of Public Services directing the teaching of job specific social work skills to public service child welfare professionals for a number of years. He has also had a lengthy career in Maine child welfare.
Recent Publications
Recent Publications Chuck has overseen the writing of a substantial curriculum that is used in the teaching of public service Child Welfare professionals; this included writing several sections himself. The curriculum includes such specific topic areas as Social Work Ethics, Assessment of Child, Safety, Risk and Danger, Interviewing and the Dynamics of Abuse and Neglect.
