Save Money Many of
the costs associated with owning and driving a vehicle increase
the more you
drive your car. These costs (gas, maintencance & repair,
and much of the depreciation) are variable costs. A conservative estimate
puts these costs at 23.8 cents per mile. Using this figure, a round-trip
commute of 60 miles, 5 days a week, incurs $3,430 per year in variable costs!
Vanpooling
the same distance costs about $1,500 a year. The difference (nearly
$2,000) winds up in your pocket. Carpoolers can also save a bundle
by splitting costs with each other. Even one day a week of carpooling
or vanpooling generates savings of $100s every year.
