Summer Payment Information

Payment Options:
Payment for Summer 2013 is due by April 15th. Methods of payment include: payment in full, enrollment in a payment plan, the award of sufficient financial aid to cover all Summer 2013 charges, or confirmation of third party payment. Charges posted after April 15th must be paid when incurred.

USM offers students the opportunity to enroll in a 3 or 4 payment plan for Summer charges. A $30 non-refundable set-up fee is charged for enrollment in either plan. Payments are divided into installments. To enroll in a payment plan, access Bill + Payment Suite via your online MaineStreet student account. Payment for the set-up fee and first installment are required at the time of enrollment.

The University will bill an employer that guarantees payment of a student's charges. The employer must provide written payment authorization prior to registration. The student is responsible for all costs if the employer does not make payment. Please contact the office of Student Accounts to set up a third party payment at (207)780-5200.
Please note: If payment is not received by the due date, late fees will be assessed. Non-payment may result in the cancellation of registration.
How to Pay:
Please note: Summer charges can be accessed on MaineStreet. Paper billing statements will not be mailed for Summer charges.
- In Person with Cash/Check - Payment may be made at the office of Student Accounts located in Portland (Payson Smith Hall), Gorham (Corthell Hall), and LAC (119 Student Success Center). Checks should be made payable to the University of Southern Maine with the student's complete name and (7-digit) MaineStreet ID number clearly indicated on the check.
- On MaineStreet with a MasterCard, Discover, or American Express, or E-Check (electronic check) - Students are now able to view and pay bills, self enroll in a payment plan, and authorize others to make online payments. Payment may be completed on MaineStreet through your MaineStreet Student Center via Bill + Payment Suite. Please be aware that there is a 2.75% (non-refundable) convenience fee to pay with a debit or credit card. There is no fee to pay with an E-Check.

Refund Policy
All Summer courses dropped on or before the first day of the course:
- 100% refund of tuition and fees
Courses scheduled to meet three weeks or less:
- 0% refund if dropped after the first day of the course
Refund percentages for courses lasting SEVEN weeks:
- Cancellation on or before the first day of course-100%
- Withdrawal prior to the end of the second week-50%
- Withdrawal prior to the end of the fourth week- 25%
- Withdrawal after the end of the fourth week- 0%
Refund percentages for courses lasting FOUR weeks:
- Cancellation on or before the first day of course-100%
- Withdrawal prior to the end of the first week- 50%
- Withdrawal prior to the end of the second week- 25%
- Withdrawal after the end of the second week- 0%
Some Summer courses have variable meeting dates that may not be reflected in the above schedule. Please contact the office of Student Accounts directly for withdrawal refund percentages.
