For Incoming 5th Graders and Outgoing 6th Graders

The USM Youth Band Day Camp is an exciting summer offering for elementary instrumental music students. This five-day music camp offers serious young instrumentalists a chance to sharpen their musical reading ability, instrumental skills, and concert band performance.

The Youth Band Day Camp will provide daily concert band experience, jazz ensemble classes, guest presentations, non-musical recreational activities, and choral group experience.

Applicants for this program should be of elementary or middle school age - primarily incoming 5th graders through outgoing 6th graders. Applicants must have played their instruments for at least one school year and/or have written recommendations from their band director or private instructor.

Applicants should play one of these instruments:

  • flute
  • oboe
  • bassoon
  • clarinet
  • saxophone
  • percussion/set drums
  • french horn

  • trumpet
  • trombone
  • baritone/euphonium
  • tuba
  • guitar *
  • piano *

* guitarists and pianists should also play a wind or percussion instrument.

Instrumentation is limited, so placement will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
