Imitative annotation

Imitative annotation of "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" by Dylan Thomas

Villanelle

We, the keepers of songs and metaphor,
having so chosen to embrace this form,
shall ponder by night the page obscure—

shall at times ask ourselves —what the hell for —
when the pen is cold and the words lukewarm.
We the keepers of songs and metaphor,

wandering forlorn at the ageless sea shore
for which the world would so slowly warm—
we, the keepers of songs and metaphor,

rich folk, poor folk, all wanting something more
out of life than to conform to the norm,
shall ponder by night the light obscure

till line after line our emotions pour
and the fever in our hearts again is calm.
We, the keepers of songs and metaphor,
shall ponder by night the page obscure.

--Ken Markee
