Prospective students apply to the Stonecoast Writers’ Conference for a particular course of study.

This summer the Stonecoast Writers’ Conference is offering workshops in short fiction, poetry, nonfiction/memoir, and the novel. Prospective students must select a particular course of study and include a writing sample in their application. Those writing samples then become the primary “text” of each workshop. In addition, our instructors adapt their course materials to suit the students. By customizing the classes, we ensure that every student has a personalized workshop.

Students also tailor their experiences by choosing which extracurricular events to attend. In this way, a student can enrich their experience by experimenting in different genres, sitting in on panel discussions, or participating in a book-binding demonstration.

A typical day at the Stonecoast Writers’ Conference would look something like this:

9:30 – 12:30 pm Workshops meet at Stone House
12:30 – 1:15 pm Lunch at Stone House
1:30 – 3:00 pm Mid-day Programming (panels, talks, experimental mini-classes)
5:00 – 6:45 pm Dinner for Resident Participants
7:30 pm Evening Reading Series (featuring faculty and invited guests)
