Exercise, Health, and Sport Sciences: Athletic Training
Athletic Training Laboratory

The Athletic Training Laboratory, a 1,000 square foot facility, serves as the primary educational center for the Athletic Training major. Located in Hill Gymnasium, this facility, in combination with the 800 square foot athletic training room, also serves as a primary health care setting for student athletes participating within the university's intercollegiate athletic program. It is within these facilities that the athletic training major acquires clinical experience working with injuries incurred as a result of athletic participation. State-of-the-art sports medicine and rehabilitation equipment give the athletic training student the opportunity to acquire proper clinical knowledge essential for the athletic training professional.

The Athletic Training Lab provides students with valuable hands on instruction, mastery of traditional skills, experience in current philosophies and research experience. The AT Lab maintains the following state of the art equipment which students use in their clinical experience:

  • Biodex Iso kinetic Testing Unit
  • Biodex Balance Platform System
  • EMG capabilities
  • Treadmill
  • Peak Motus Analysis System
  • Force Plate
  • Cryotherapy and Thermotherapy physical modalities
  • Electrotherapy physical modalities
  • Ultrasound
  • Core Stabilization capabilities

Other Labs and Facilities
  • Human Performance Laboratory
  • Fitness and Wellness Center
  • the Field House - this area houses a 200 meter track, four tennis courts, and three basketball courts, as well as other facilities necessary for participation in a variety of athletic endeavors.
  • the Ice Arena - with seating for 1,000 spectators, the Ice Arena provides Maine with the state's only Olympic-sized surface.
  • Warren G. Hill Gymnasium - the gym houses the University's men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball programs, and has served as host to countless NCAA, ECAC and Little East Conference post season contests.
