Sociology Student AssociationThe mission of the Sociology Student Association is to create a community by connecting sociology students with one another, university/department faculty/staff, and Greater Portland; to maintain solidarity between students, university employees, and the surrounding public through service projects and social engagement; and to appreciate all forms of social and cultural diversity both on and off campus. This undertaking is in accordance with the goals of the University of Southern Maine to benefit local citizens and society in general through public service, and to encourage participation in diverse communities. The SSA is an official Board of Student Organizations group. This means that we are able to access funds from the Student Activity Fee to undertake various events and activities throughout the academic year. There are no formal requirements to joining the SSA- you need only to be interested in the discipline and in meeting other students. To learn more, please visit the SSA page on Facebook or ask any faculty or staff member of the department. |
