About Me

I received my PhD in Sociology from the University of California-Riverside in June 2001 and became Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Southern Maine in September 2001. In September 2007 I was promoted to Associate Professor.  In June 2008 I became Chair of Sociology. 

As native Southern Californians, my family and I have adjusted well to Maine and are particularly enjoying the great city of Portland. In my off time I'm usually out having fun with my family. Hannah is 8 now, a big third grader.

I'm also a big fan of music (mostly jam band, classic rock, jazz, and blues). My short stint in the music business and my longer involvement with a couple bands is documented in detail at my "Oingo Ed" site.
