Learning for the Community Fair

On Thursday, April 29, USM/Lewiston-Auburn hosted its first Fair to celebrate student learning, research, service-learning projects, and civic engagement.

For approximately three hours there were displays, discussions, and Power Point presentations explaining the projects that had been completed for coursework throughout the school year. The Dean at LAC visited the booths, along with various faculty, staff and community members.  Louis Armstrong singing What a Wonderful World played softly in the background, while a PowerPoint presentation of service-learning projects at L-A during the year played on a large screen.

The event was coordinated through Rosemarie Fitch, Office of Community Service/Service-Learning, with special thanks to student, Lisa Chasse and Computer Lab Manager, Paula Caggiula.  Fitch stated that, “several faculty not only visited, but brought their students down to see the work of other students.  What a wonderful way to show support for the work our students do.”

It is hoped that this becomes an annual event that enlarges each year and includes more people from the community who want to learn and see some of the things that happen at USM/L-A each year.
