Students on the Maine Stage In April, 2004, four students and L-A's Service-Learning Coordinator traveled to the Augusta State House for Maine Campus Compact's service-learning fair called "Students on the Maine Stage," held in the Hall of Flags. It gave L-A's students a chance to not only show off some of their projects, but to see what other campuses are doing. Several area elementary and high schools sent bus loads of students to the fair to see the booths and observe the House of Representatives in session. Student Lisa Chasse, shown at left, was very excited to show her booth to her local State Representative. At the bottom, left, two students are shown with Lewiston's Representative, Elaine Makas. The picture at right center shows a high school student listening to music set to a PowerPoint presentation completed by an L-A student for SBS345, Race, Class, and Gender. The picture at the bottom right shows L-A students Lilia Bright and Ismail Ahmed with the award (gift certificate) given to them. L-A received the award for sending the most students from one campus. |
