Portland is well connected to major US cities by air, bus and train. There is an airport in Portland (airport code: PWM) that is served by most airlines.

International passengers should note that there is a much larger city by the same name on the West Coast about 3000 miles from us. Make sure you are coming to Portland in the state of Maine. Mention the airport code PWM.

Generally cheaper fares are available if you fly into Boston Logan Airport, Massachusetts (Airport Code: BOS) or Manchester Airport, New Hampshire (Airport Code: MHT). Both airports are about 100 miles south of Portland. You can rent a car from there. If you fly into Boston Logan Airport, you can easily take a bus to Portland. It operates frequently and cost is about $35 for a round trip ticket. There is no direct bus connection between Manchester and Portland.

In order to take the bus from Boston Logan Airport, just go to the information desk at your arrival terminal and ask for directions. The bus is operated by Concord Trailways. Please use Concord Trailways link for all the information for bus services from Boston Logan Airport.

The last bus leaves the airport around 9:30 PM. As you come out of the terminal building, just go across the street to the booth marked “Scheduled Buses”. The arrival schedule of buses is posted inside the booth. The bus takes about 2.5 hours to reach Portland. The bus terminal in Portland is located right behind Double Tree Hotel.

The Amtrak train service to Portland is routed through Boston. You will need to take a cab from the Logan airport to the North station in Boston. The train station in Portland is also located behind Double Tree Hotel.
