Accreditation

The USM Psy.D. Program submitted an accreditation self-study to APA in May 2009. On 17 August 2009 the Program received detailed feedback from APA indicating that we are not yet ready for a site visit. After consulting with APA, the program faculty decided to withdraw the application and make needed program changes. Please remember that no program is APA accredited until a self-study, site visit team, and the APA Council on Accreditation approves the program. That means our program remains non-accredited by APA at this time.

Please know that we remain interested in obtaining APA accreditation as soon as possible. We made revisions to our program of study based on feedback from APA and from a consultant who is very familiar with APA accreditation standards and processes.  Staffing changes during the 2011-2012 academic year prevent us from submitting a new application to APA (delete the word yet) in the foreseable future. We hope to submit a new application as soon as resources permit. If you have any questions concerning this process, please contact us and we will do our best to explain and clarify things.
