Rose Cleary

I’ve had the good fortune of being a member of USM LAC’s Social and Behavioral Sciences faculty since 1998.  I find the program and the College to be a dynamic, inclusive academic community that fosters creative and collaborative learning among students as well as faculty.  While I am currently serving as the Director of USM’s Honors Program in Portland, my “home” remains at LAC.  I earned my Ph.D. in Psychology with a minor in Literature from the University of Dallas in 1990.  Prior to that, I was awarded a Masters degree in Philosophy from Loyola University in Chicago.  Before coming to USM LAC, I worked for a number of years as a psychotherapist first in a community mental health center and then as a member of a feminist counseling collective. 

When I’m not running to keep up with my teenage daughter, I spend my free time learning to play the piano, practicing yoga, and enjoying the beauties of Maine!
