Welcome to the USM Student Business Plan Competition. This competition is conducted by our Center for Entrepreneurship and is another tangible example of the School’s commitment to helping Maine people achieve their business visions. We are especially excited that this year’s competition will again be open to students in higher education in around Maine. If you are a student and have a great idea for a new company, product or service (or even improvements on an existing one), this competition can launch you on a path to success.
There are many tangible benefits from competing:
- Our prize package, including $10,000 in cash and $15,000 in professional services, gives the winner financial resources and access to top professional services so critical to a fledgling venture.
- Just competing will give you a leg up in the competitive marketplace. As you work through the preparations for the competition, you will learn what it takes to prepare a business plan that will catch the eyes of investors and you will benefit from personal feedback on your idea and plan. We are proud of the partnerships that make this event possible and, as a result, everyone has a chance to interact with professionals in the new venture and funding communities. In this sense, everyone who competes is a winner.
The USM Student Business Plan Competition is now in its eighth year and is already making a difference in Maine. Maine’s economy is driven by small business and entrepreneurship and the future of our state’s economy depends on our ability to grow top quality companies.
