Center for Business and Economic Research
The mission of the Center for Business and Economic Research is to provide high-quality applied research and technical assistance services to Maine's private and public sector organizations through the combined expertise of faculty, staff, and students from the School of Business, the Muskie School of Public Service, and other colleges and schools at the University of Southern Maine.
Bruce Andrews, Director
Center for Entrepreneurship
USM's School of Business began planning for the center in 1995 to meet the need for increasingly sophisticated knowledge, entrepreneurial skills and technical abilities among small businesses so they can compete in a changing business environment. The University of Maine System System Board of Trustees approved creation of the center at their November 18, 1996 meeting. The center is self-supporting. "Small businesses are playing a key role in strengthening the state's economy, and the people of Maine have a right to expect research and services which contribute to the growth and development of these enterprises, "said University of Maine System Chancellor Terrence MacTaggart.
Valarie C. Lamont, Director
Maine Small Business Development Center
Administered by the School of Business at the University of Southern Maine, the Maine Small Business Development Center (Maine SBDC) Statewide Network provides comprehensive business management assistance, training, resource and information services to Maine's micro, small and technology-based businesses and the jobs these businesses provide.
