PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Professor Gutmann, formerly an accountant for several large organizations, is the author of several monographs, both printed and electronic, on computer software. Among these are Accounting Made Easy with a PC, Financial Management for Small Business, Microsoft Money Management. She is also a frequent reviewer of textbooks on computers and computer applications in accounting. She has taught numerous short courses on computer software for private-sector concerns, such as Key Bank, Central Maine Power, L.L. Bean, and the New England Banking Institute, as well as for her colleagues and others in the USM community and for a private computer training firm. In this capacity, Professor Gutmann, previously the interim dean and currently Associate Dean for the School of Business, has made significant contributions to innovative instructional techniques in her field, highlighted by the USM course entitled "Computers and Systems for Accounting," which she designed and continues to teach.
