ResNet's Residential Computer Technician Application for 2008/2009


Welcome to ResNet at USM! Thanks for the interest to become a Residential Computer Technician (ResTech) for the University of Southern Maine. In order to be eligible for this position the following criteria must be meet:

1.) You must be a fully matriculated student living on campus at the University of Southern Maine.

2.) You should have some prior knowledge about or interest in computers, networking, and/or working with people. Training will be offered.


DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: A ResTech must possess a proactive learning attitude, good communication skills, the ability to work with a diverse student population and some knowledge about computers. Overall duties include providing general clerical support in an office setting, assisting with educational programs to the USM-ResNet community members and some basic database management function such as the upkeep of a trouble call log.

HOURS: A ResTech will work 5-15 hours per week, depending upon classes, workstudy funds and their availability.

PAY: A ResTech will preferably have federal workstudy funds, but non-workstudy students will be considered for positions. Starting pay for a ResTech will be $8.50 per hour. With three pay scales, promotions will awarded for hard work. Additional benefits include extensive summer training, the opportunity to return to campus before official opening, and on-going training sessions throughout the year.
