Winter Break closing notice for campus residents
The winter break officially begins Sunday, February 17, 2013.
While the residence halls will remain locked over break, we encourage you to take all valuables with you. Before leaving, please make sure you do the following (staff members will be inspecting all rooms):
1. Let your RA know if you will be staying over break.
2. Lock windows & leave curtains/blinds open for passive heating & security.
3. Remove ALL trash & recyclables from the room. Please ensure that the room is easily accessible in case maintenance staff must enter to make repairs or to perform routine maintenance work.
4. Turn off all lights.
5. Lock door(s).
6. Unplug all electronics (stereos, televisions, DVD players, etc).
Microfridges and refrigerators may remain plugged in for this break.
If you are going to be off campus during break and will be leaving a car on campus, please park it in the very last row of Lot G-13B, located between the “long term” parking signs by Dickey Wood. This is to avoid receiving a ticket if a snow parking ban is called. See a campus map for more information.
Residential dining room closes at 1pm Sat., Feb.16. Reopens at 4pm on Sunday, February 24. Open limited hours during break; M-F: 7-9am, 11am-1pm, 4-6pm. Sat & Sun: 10am-1pm, 4-6pm. Use Husky Bucks, meal dollars, cash and credit.
Residents of halls may allow a guest to stay with them over break; however, guests will not have card access to any of the buildings, the roommate(s) must agree to the guest staying, and the guest may not stay for more than three nights in a 14 day period. Please refer to guidelines outlined in the Residence Hall Policies at www.usm.maine.edu/reslife/residence-hall-policies.
