Spring Break Notice for Current Residents

The break officially begins after all classes Sunday, March 25, 2012.  

Dining Services:  The Brooks Dining Center will close for regular meal service at 1pm Saturday, March 24. During break, meals can be purchased for just $5.00 with cash, credit, Husky Bucks and meal plan dollars, beginning 4pm Saturday, March 24. Regular meal plans resume at 4pm on Sunday, April 1.

Parking:  Vehicles with valid residential parking stickers must park in the last row of  G13 between the “long term parking” signs if the vehicle will be on campus over break while you are gone.  If you will be staying on campus through the break, you may park in the residential student lots but follow the snow parking bans as directed. Snow bans will be communicated via the snow ban parking line, phone number 228-8005, after 4pm. Signs will be posted at entrances of student parking lots on the day of the ban, and on residence hall entrances when possible. 

Guests: Residents of halls may allow a guest to stay with them over break; however, they will not have card access to any of the buildings, the roommate(s) must agree to the guest staying, and the guest may not stay for more than three nights in a 14 day period. Please refer to the guest guidelines outlined at http://usm.maine.edu/reslife/residence-hall-policies for more information.

All Residents:

While the residence halls will remain locked over break, we encourage you to take all valuables with you.  Before leaving the residence hall, please make sure that you do the following (staff members will be inspecting all rooms):

1.   Lock windows & leave curtains/blinds open (for passive heating & security reasons).

2.   Remove ALL trash, perishables & recyclables from the room.  Please ensure that the room is easily accessible in case maintenance staff must enter to make repairs or to perform routine maintenance work.

3.   Turn off all lights.

4.   Lock door(s).

5.   Unplug ALL appliances (clocks, microfridge, televisions, DVD players, etc.)
