Talk by Casco Bay Estuary Partnership Director - Curtis Bohlen
Please join us as we welcome Curtis Bohlen, Director of the Casco Bay Estuary Partnership, Friday, December 14 at 11 AM in Glickman Library, 7th floor.
The title of the talk is Casco Bay at USM: Towards Place-based Academic Excellence.
Curtis will share his vision on strengthening the relationship between USM and the Casco Bay Estuary Partnership (CBEP). Part of this strength and service to the greater community involves providing experiential learning opportunities for our students and expanding research and scholarship opportunities for faculty. A stronger relationship also would allow CBEP access to expertise in intellectual realms where their existing structure offers less strength.
The CBEP is an excellent example of interdisciplinary scholarship – the integration of the physical and natural sciences with social science, humanities, arts and public policy. Strengthening USM’s relationship with CBEP will allow us to better serve the needs of the southern Maine community.
The Casco Bay Estuary Partnership (CBEP) is devoted to protecting and restoring the water quality, and fish and wildlife habitat of the Casco Bay ecosystem, while ensuring compatible human uses. They currently partner with local, state and federal government organizations, non-profits, local businesses, citizens, universities and more.
