ADD, DROP AND WITHDRAWAL
Adding a Course:
Starting on the first day of the semester, the instructors are in charge of the
enrollments for their class. The process for adding a class is to pick up an add
slip in the Registrar's Office, the Enrollment Services Center, Lewiston/Auburn
College or Off-Campus Centers or print one off at this website, form # 2 http://www.usm.maine.edu/~reg/Forms.htm
. Take the form to the class that you wish to add
and see if the instructor is willing to sign it. After obtaining a signature,
return it to one of the offices above for
processing by the end of the first week of the semester. For late afternoon and
evening
courses that meet once a week, adds will be accepted thru the day following the
second class meeting. Charges will increase if the total number of credit hours
increases. Additional charges must be paid at the time the increase occurs. If
payment is not made, a late fee will be charged.
Dropping a Course:
Dropping a course without withdrawing from the University: You have the
first two weeks of the semester to drop a course from your schedule with no
grade notation and receive a 100% refund. After the first two weeks, you may
receive an automatic grade of "W" but no refund will be made for a
drop. Check the dates in the instructions section of the current course listing
for the last day to receive a refund and the last day to receive an automatic "W".
The process for dropping a course is to go to the Registrar's Office, the Enrollment Services Center, Lewiston/Auburn College or any off campus center and
fill out a drop form, or print out a drop form at this web site form # 8 http://www.usm.maine.edu/~reg/Forms.htm
and fax to 780-5517. The
instructors signature is not required. The date the notification is received in one of the
above offices determines if the charges will be reduced.
Withdrawing from all Courses:
Withdrawing from all courses: A student may drop all courses by completing a
Semester Leave Form # 15 at this web site http://www.usm.maine.edu/~reg/Forms.htm
. This form is also available at the Registrar's Office,
Enrollment Services Center, Lewiston/Auburn College or any Off-Campus Center and
is returned to any of these offices. Students withdrawing by fax 780-5517, or mail
may do so by
sending a letter to the Registrar's Office or calling 780-5105 between 8:00 a.m.
and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. When a student withdraws charges are
reduced in accordance with the schedule in the front of the current course
tabloid. The date of withdrawal is established by: the date the Semester Leave Form is received by the Registrar's
Office, Enrollment Services Center, Lewiston/Auburn College or Off-Campus Center; or the
date the letter of withdrawal is postmarked; or the date the student calls
780-5105 to withdraw.
Note: Withdrawal from the second week
through the eighth week of class, you will receive an automatic grade of "W". In the case of a University Withdrawal after 60% of class, the student will normally receive a grade F.
