Eligibility:

1.	Only current USM students, faculty, and staff members are eligible to
participate in the Intramural program. A student need only be carrying one
credit hour to participate. Alumni are not eligible.

roster must be filed for each activity. Entries are not official until filed in
the Recreational Sports office. Captains may enter a team on line at
intramurals.com.

3.	To be eligible to compete in an activity, a participant's name must appear
on the team roster form prior to the start of the activity. If a participant is
found to have participated without being on the roster, the team will forfeit
the contest.

4.	All rosters must be set prior to the start of a team's third contest. Once
a team has played three games, the roster on file is final.

5.	An individual may participate with only one men's/women's team and one co-
rec team during the course of an intramural activity. Any individual violating
this rule will be deemed ineligible for the remainder of that activity and his

from participating in any intramural event.

the risk for any harm or injuries caused by negligence or any intentional acts.
The Recreational Sports office and staff are not responsible for injuries
incurred. All participants who do not have their own insurance are expected to
purchase the university insurance. Injuries incurred during the competition will
be referred to Health Services. All injuries should be immediately reported to
the supervisor on duty so that the proper paperwork can be filed.

Alcohol Policy:
It is University policy that alcoholic beverages or other illegal substances not
be consumed on University recreational areas or in University athletic
facilities. Team managers must take responsibility to see that neither players
nor spectators carry alcoholic beverages to the facilities. It is also against
policy to participate in intramural activities while under the influence of
alcohol or illegal substances. Field/court supervisors have the authority to
remove participants or forfeit games in substance abuse occurs.

Protest Procedures:
1.	Official's judgment
Questions of an official's judgment are NOT valid grounds for protest. A protest
must concern a question of procedure and/or rule interpretation.

2.	Rule interpretation
a.	During the intramural sport contest, if a question is raised about the
proper interpretation of a rule in that activity, it is the responsibility of
the team captain of the offended team to immediately (before the ball is put
back into play) to ask the official to clarify the issue.

b.	If the captain is not satisfied with the clarification, he/she may request
the official to call in the court/field supervisor. If the captain is still not
satisfied, he/she may file an official protest as outlined below.

c.	The captain must declare immediately (before play resumes) that they are
playing the remainder of the contest under protest. At this point all pertinent
information should be recorded on the back of the score sheet.

d.	The captain must then submit a formal protest to the Intramural
Coordinator no later than 24 hours after the conclusion of the contest.

e.	No protests will be heard if this procedure is not followed.

3.	All protest decisions will be rendered by the appeals committee. The
committee will consist of, but not limited to: the entire Intramural staff, two

in serving on the committee should apply in the Recreational Sports office or
call 780-5433.

1.	“Game time is forfeit time.” If a team or individual fails to report to
the assigned game by the exact time scheduled, the field/court supervisor will
declare a forfeit.

2.	Two (2) forfeits during the regular season will make a team ineligible for
post-season play. Teams will, however, be able to complete their regular season
schedule. Three (3) forfeits and a team will automatically be dropped from the
league.

3.	A team may contact the intramural office at 780-5649 at least two (2)
