USM Students Win Awards at Film Chowdah

The talents of USM students were well represented at the 2011 “Film Chowdah,” otherwise known as the Maine College Film Festival.  The festival, held in late April at the Nickelodeon in Portland, showcased 16 student-produced films.

 

Media Studies student Melissa Kenison picked up the “best writing” award for her work on the USM-produced  “A Mother’s War.” Kenison also received an Augusta Savage Gallery Award for her work on “A Mother’s War.”  Media studies student Andrea Nilosek received the best documentary/mockumentary award for “‘Maters,” while theatre major Meredith Lamonthe won the best actress award.  Shawn Harmon, recently named USM’s outstanding media studies student for 2011, won an Augusta Savage Gallery Award for his work on  “Walk a Mile in My Shoes.”
