“Should Mainers accept same-sex marriage?” A debate on the merits of Question One
The LGBT Law Caucus at the University of Maine School of Law will host a debate on Thursday, Oct. 18, regarding the merits of Question 1, which will appear on the statewide ballot this November. The debate is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Talbot Hall, in the Luther Bonney Hall building on the University of Southern Maine campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
Question 1 will ask Maine voters "Do you want to allow the State of Maine to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples?"
The debate will feature Mary Bonauto, Civil Rights Project Director at Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) and Carroll Conley, Jr., Executive Director of the Christian Civic League of Maine.
Dmitry Bam, Associate Professor of Law at the University of Maine School of Law, will serve as moderator.
The LGBT Law Caucus is accepting submissions of questions for the two debaters from the general public. Online submissions will be accepted and considered until the start of the debate. Please send questions to email@example.com.
