Etiology of Orgasmic Disorders

I. Premature Ejaculation
1.Psychological Causes
sexual experiences in situations that encouraged short
ejaculatory times
hostility on the part of the male to deprive the female of the pleasure of sex
high levels of anxiety that contribute to heightened arousal
II.    Male Orgasmic Disorder
1.Biological Causes
low testosterone levels
medications i.e. antihypertensive meds and SSRI's
alchohol & drug abuse
2.Psychological Causes
perfomance anxiety/ spectator role
hypoactive sexual desire
i.e. having sex because of pressure from partner
III.    Female Orgasmic Disorder
1.Biological Causes
chronic illnesses
medications
alcohol & drug abuse
2.Psychological Causes
Raised in sexually restrictive environment
Problems in marital relationship
Inadequate sexual knowledge & skills
