Scott E. Steinberg
- Dean of Undergraduate Admission
Scott Steinberg came to USM in July, 2007, as director of undergraduate admission, having worked in higher education—primarily admissions—for over 15 years at Bates and Bowdoin colleges. Prior to beginning his career in higher education, he worked in the private sector and was a marketing director for a Fortune 100 financial services firm. As dean of Undergraduate Admission, he is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a comprehensive undergraduate admission recruitment and selection program at USM.
Scott is a member of both the National and New England Associations of College Admission Counselors. He is a former Division III varsity tennis coach, and serves the United States Tennis Association (USTA) as president (USTA / Maine), vice president (USTA / New England), and member of the nominating committee (National).
Scott graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Bates College in 1986 with a double major in mathematics and music, and earned his M.B.A. from Columbia University in 1988.
