Judith S. Ryan

Senior Advisor to the President
Judy Ryan has worked in higher education for over 30 years, primarily at USM as vice president for Student Affairs and more recently as vice president for Human Resources and senior advisor to the president. Judy has also served the University of Maine System as senior fellow for Student Affairs and as chief of staff to the chancellor.
As vice president for Human Resources at USM, she is responsible for recruiting, supporting, and retaining a qualified workforce whose primary mission it is to ensure the success of USM’s students. Human Resources include the departments of Employment Services, Benefits, Payroll, Employee and Organization Development, and Labor Relations. Judy is also responsible for coordinating USM’s response to legal concerns and is chair of the USM Space Committee.
Over the years, Judy has been involved in a number of professional organizations, among them the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), College and University Personnel Administrators (CUPA), and served on a number of evaluation teams for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Judy is a 1995 graduate of the Institute for Civic Leadership. She also served as a member and then chair of Hebron Academy Board of Trustees. She was named Trustee Emeritus in 2007.
Judy received her bachelor of fine arts at the University of South Florida in 1975 and her master of science in education at the University of Southern Maine in 1982.
