Plan Cigna Dental Plan – USM pays the
premium for employees. Employees
pay premiums for dependants.
- Life
Insurance USM pays
for a benefit equivalent to the employee’s annual salary.
Additional coverage at employee
expense is available.
- Short
Term Disability Coverage Employee
pays premiums.
- Long
Term Disability Coverage USM pays
premiums.
- Tuition
Waiver Employees can take two
tuition-free courses every semester. (Employees
pay for books and fees). Spouses
and dependant children can take courses at half-tuition if they are full time
students, carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
- Vacation
Leave Hours are earned
and accumulate biweekly.

Plan 403(b) Investment Plan – Employees
can manage their i
investment portfolios,
or experts can do it for them. USM’s retirement
plan does not interfere
with the collection of a pension from the Maine
State Retirement System
for those employees eligible through a previous
law enforcement career.
