Initiation
The Spring 2009 Intiation is scheduled for Monday, April 27, 2009.
The program will begin at 6:00 PM. It will be held on the 7th floor of Glickman Family Library in Portland. It is recommended that you arrive early, around 5:30, to check in.
Our Initiation Ceremony is a chance to recognize our new members and their achievements in their academic career. Family and friends are welcome to accompany initiates. Each year a keynote speaker is chosen to speak on a topic of their choice as it relates to the mission of Phi Kappa Phi. In the past, speakers have come from the community, internal USM administrators, and Phi Kappa Phi National or Regional representatives.
The ceremony begins with a welcome from our chapter President followed by the Keynote. The Chapter Officers will explain some important aspects and symbols of Phi Kappa Phi. Initiates are then called to the front to accept their certificate and emblem. After the ceremony concludes, we welcome initiates and guests to gather for refreshments.
If an initiate is unable to attend the Initiation Ceremony, he or she is still welcome to join Phi Kappa Phi. We do encourage everyone to celebrate their accomplishments, but in the event you are unable to, please contact Aimée Backiel, or another Officer, to make arrangements to receive your certificate and other materials.
