Computing tools for Physics Majors
The physics department has a course use license for an excellent scientific graphing program: Igor Pro 6 by Wavemetrics. Igor Pro is an extremely powerful and fast program for data analysis, and our license lets you install a copy on your home computer or laptop as long as you are taking a physics course. It is worth learning. Contact Prof. Nakroshis for more info.
In addition, several upper level courses require you to learn the scientific typesetting program LaTEX; if you go on to graduate school, you will definitely need to use this tool. It is a free (and large!) download, and is available for all platforms. If you are going to do any writing that involves mathematics, this is the program to use.
